The new collective agreement, approved by Local 217 members on Thursday, Jan. 21 and the NPC Board of Directors on Jan. 22, includes salary and benefits adjustments as well as improvements to the contract`s wording in terms of working conditions and seniority. Employee salaries will increase by a total of 5.5% over the course of this four-year agreement. NIAGARA FALLS – The Niagara Parks Commission (NPC) and its park employees, members of the Ontario Public Service Employees Union (OPSEU) Local 217, are pleased to announce that a new four-year contractual agreement has been reached and ratified by both parties. Patricia Habermann, OPSEU negotiator, said: “The local bargaining team believes that the changes to this collective agreement are fair and resolve some of the key issues that are a priority for our members. I would like to thank all stakeholders, including the local bargaining team, for their hard work and commitment to the local, all members of the bargaining unit and PAHO. According to AFN Director General John Kernahan, the Commission was pleased to support this comparison. “This contract recognizes the important working relationship we have with our employees while giving us the certainty of the costs we need in these challenging times for tourism.” The new collective agreement will come into effect on November 1, 2009 and expire on October 31, 2013. .
